I can erase you too

Rub you out

Until the charcoal marks are

Gone, the dead weight

Of lead scattered

On my desk

I could gather up the particles

make a bullet

I could gather up the particles

spread them like ashes

I could

I could

I know it’s possible

The deep lines and indents

On the parchment

Like canals of ancient water

On Mars

Something was there

And I knew what it was

when we were written
