Listen to Your Mother Plumas County

Call for Submissions! The Plumas County Listen to Your Mother Show 2015 is now open for submissions from you to tell YOUR story about motherhood. We’re looking for the story that’s difficult to tell. The sweet story. The exasperating story. The story that made you almost pull your hair out and call it quits. The story that made you jump for joy and say yes! I can do this!

This year marks the third year LTYM is in Plumas County. It’s joined by 31 other cities around the country.

Mothers—got anything to say about your experience of motherhood? Daughters –what’s your experience of being mothered? Men –what is your story of motherhood?

Kick off the new year by writing your story! You don’t have to be a professional writer! We are looking for stories that tell the truth about the experience. We aim to celebrate mother’s day in all its stepping-on-Lego-and-Cheerios, did-the-cops-just-bring-my-daughter-home-in-the-back-of-a-patrol-car, how-did-I-survive, glory. Got a story?

Essays should be no more than five minutes in length when read out loud (that’s about 800 to 1000 words). You must be open to editing and critique. You won’t have to have your words memorized, but you will have to have it rehearsed.

Ten essays will be chosen and ten readers will perform their stories at the Town Hall Theatre in Quincy, CA on April 30th in celebration of Mother’s Day. Come join us!

Email us at with your attached essay with “LTYM submission” in the subject line between January 1st and February15th, 2015.
